In 2003, an Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railway crew works at Perdue Farms in Candor, North Carolina with a borrowed GP38-2 appropiately set up to run to Aberdeen long hood forward. It was built in 1976 as Southern Railway, same number. Meanwhile, my recollecion was that ACWR 3802 had been in a grade crossing accident not long before I shot this scene. She was built in 1967 as Baltimore & Ohio (BO) 3846, a GP38. CSX sold her to the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western who sold her to Progress Rail Services (PRSX 3802) a few years after this shot. The last photograph I can find of the locomotive is from 2008 when Progress was converting her to a genset unit. Either they changed the number or gave up on the genset idea and scrapped the unit.
The photograph was scanned from a slide I made with a Canon Elan 7.
