One of seven GG1s painted in Amtrak's "Platinum Mist" scheme, the 909 pauses briefly at Lancaster's 1929-built high-level platform with the westbound Broadway Limited. (The other six GG1s similarly painted were: 902, 905, 906, 924, 926, and 927.) Note the leaky steam connection under the front coupler. No. 909 was built in July, 1940 by Altoona/GE as the PRR No. 4908.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
