Passing building that pre-date the United States, including the St. Louis Cathedral, the New Orleans Public Belt is another, ableit newer, institution.
Taking a page from the Midwest, railroads in New Orleans have began using elevated signal boxes for their electrical equipment in flood prone areas.
As far as trains are concerned, it don't get more New Orleans than a Riverfront Streetcar and the Public Belt.
