The "flyer" glides through an extremely remote part of the WVC. In the heyday of the WM this was a "big" railroad town, now it is literally a ghost town.
The "flyer" tiptoes out of this 1500 foot long "S" curved tunnel. Note the permanent 5 mph restriction due to extremely tight clearances.
In a rare sight, three WVC locomotives are being turned on the wye in Elkins for an upcoming railfan weekend. The engines are hauling a single boxcar bound for a nearby industry.
