On a cold and snowy October 10, 1997, Amtrak’s eastbound Empire Builder climbs over Marias Pass at Marias, Montana, led by GE P40DC No. 812 and EMD F40PH No. 378.
Amtrak train 5, the California Zephyr makes good time on the center track heading west on BNSF through Highlands, IL. The GE P40 makes quite a different impression than the trailing EMD F40PH.
