This train is coming off the CW (Calverton - Warrenton) line. Vulcan's quarry is the only customer on this 4-mile branch, which now ends at Casanova VA. The crushed granite is likely headed to their distribution yard at Springfield VA. At only 46 miles, this is short haul, but traffic congestion in the DC area makes this move economic by rail, versus truck. Trains can be up to 50 cars during peak paving season.
