What's with the screens over the windshield ? Does the line go thru some rough neighborhoods ?

The "ghetto grills" are designed to hopefully keep the projectiles from damaging the windows amongst many bad areas these units travel in. Is it just me, but this paint scheme is hard on the eyes and seems way too complicated.

Yes, the window protections are used to avoid having the windows damaged by rocks, they are 90% effective.

Way back around 1970, either Railroad Model Craftsman or Model Railroader magazine published a set of drawings for "The Roger Williams", a New Haven train in commuter service IINM. Not mentioned but no less visible were the screens over the windshields. Back then, I thought they looked like Venetian blinds--none of the power around where we lived had anything like that at the time. These days are much different, sadly, and I can't blame the railroad for wanting to protect their employees.

Thank You ALL for the responses regarding the grills over the Windshield , I figured as much , just needed confirmation
I agree with this Paint Scheme being too Busy , the old scheme is better in my opinion

Dazzle camouflage on a locomotive!

Not a problem, it’s an honor for me to be able to share my pictures with you.
This paint scheme still is not 100% of my likeness, I feel it could be a little bit better.
From what I read this is a pretty modern and actualized scheme for the current times, weird ideas.
