I really like your description; I've been pouring over the topo maps, GEarth, and other sources trying to find good spots to stake out the trains. Sorry to hear the yellow is already gone this year. I wonder if your tunnel 28 is the same as the one I count as #27, just around the bend east of Pinecliffe; an old D&RGW photo here also calls it 27.
