A tiny remnant of the original Indiana Railroad, the interurban that consolidated most intercity electric operations all around Indiana with its hub Indianapolis, in 1930, and whose last passenger runs were in 1941. The Southern Indiana is a scrap of the old Indiana Railroad's Indianapolis-Louisville line, one that saw sleeping car service lasting, briefly, even after the 1930 merger.
