Steve - nice capture of changing history. It's good to capture this 80 year old structure while it still stands, and sad to know it's going to disappear into memory. I looked this up on Google Maps, and went to Street View on East L Street, and looked West from the bridge over this line, and it's a nice view before the construction started. However - you have the street this bridge crosses wrong. It's not G Street - it's over J Street. Go to Street View on J Street on Google Maps, and the construction on the new bridge has started and is about 2/3rds done. Still - nice capture, and sad to see one more piece of history die.

Dana. The Girder bridge that is the keystone to the project, crosses G street. Take a closer look with Google Earth, using 3D buildings or Street view, and these coordinates 47°14'24.99" N 122°25'28.51" W. You will clearly see the girder bridge that is now no more. The trestle does cross J street as well, but is a shorter crossing and was spanned with timber. The new bridge creates a wider crossing of J street with a different type of concrete beams than the remainder of the new bridge.

Steve - are you shure the new brigde will be moved? I think the new bridge is already on place. Nice photo.

Yes, it was moved this (2/19/2017) morning 9' 9", at a snails pace. It was built slightly out of place upon a temporary steel support structure, as it was otherwise too close to the old bridge for construction and demolition.
