I would say those extra cars up front are going to Beech Grove. They would not split revenue passenger cars with a baggage car.

I was on an Amtrak train from Battle Creek Michigan to Chicago some years ago, and it had a similar set-up. There were four or five passenger cars behind two locomotives on the front end where there was normally one locomotive. There were several baggage cars between the cafe car and the baggage carrs behind the locomotive. The main engineer in the cafe car told me that the isolated passenger cars were going for service in Chicago.
