Is that lead unit a double-ender? It looks like there is another set of horns at the back of the unit facing the opposite way. Nice looking train (Alco-design cabs!) and nice shot!

The train is on standard gauge track, only two platforms at Southern Cross Station have dual gauge track (standard and broad) to cater for interstate passenger services.
The lead loco (4490) is double ended.
