I don't mean to "derail" this string of comments, but those military vehicles are called Strykers. They are similar to a LAV though, pretty much a newer version of the same chassis but without the turret that a LAV has. It is always impressive how many armored vehicles just two locomotives can haul. Nice picture, "Christmas card like scenery" is a pretty good description.
