I would love to hear that story.

Bet I can come close - (no road in the picture?) "But ofscifer, I only had (burp) .. 2 beers" (Good eyes Q276!)
Ya, I'm scratching my head at this one too, would be an interesting story
Okay, someone has just *got* to call the local public information officer at the state trooper barracks in question to get a copy of this accident report!
One of the local railfans stated the driver told the officer "his GPS told him to turn"... "Life comes at you fast"!
That's an expensive ride to have been treated in this manor. But if you can afford one of these, then you can afford the "pink slip", the trespassing, and the very expensive towing. I have no idea what the railroad will charge for the delaying of their train. It looks like the idiot lost traction and then spun his tires which "high centered" the car, loose ballast is just what it's called, loose. To have gotten to this point that driver must be a real looser !
I have seen Weverton from the highway almost parallel to the main in this spot and from what I have been told the road the car came from was just a small artery to access the Appalachian and the Potomac and was only meant for pedestrian use. In regards to the situation, the crew man just to the right of the officer looks unhappy with who appears to be the driver and the passenger and is pointing one of his fingers at them.

ello misssster occifer. I'm not as think as you drunk I am.
Looks like a newer Miata. We've taken our older one on gravel roads, but it is definitely not made for driving on ballast, whether your GPS tells you to or not.
Nice Shot and why would you drive a car up there.
I have had the pleasure of spending a fair amount of time at this location. It took some real "doing" to get that car in that deep. Its quite a distance from anything you could really call a "road."
Great catch! As for the GPS excuse..."well the GPS told me to do it and its never wrong". What's wrong with using common sense?

GPS recalculating...
Figures the idiot who got his car stuck here would be the only one standing between the rails, which is a cardinal sin.
So the driver actually tried to drive along the loose gravel shoulder???
What an idiot.
