What a dreary day that was. On the way back, I lost a tooth when I slammed into a wall as the train went into emergency after vandals had put debris on the track. Later, we passed a LV freight working upgrade in the tunnel. What an experience. I was just a lad of 7.

Rode the train also. Remember the crappy weather, the debris, and just how cool it looked when we passed Bethlehem Steel at night on the return.

the Sad thing is that now the 972 is down at Strasburg, PA in peices. the boiler is in one section, cab another, and tender another. The Auxillary Tender is now owned by the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad as are most of the coaches.
