First time for everything I suppose. I would have loved to have seen this train for myself, how about a little notice next time;-)

I have to ask, why do they have so many units? And why is it referred to as a monster train? Because 113 cars really isnt that many, granted for the ARR it may be. I dont see why the railroad has 4 units on 75 cars? Is there a steep grade?

They use 5 SD70MAC's on each 75 car unit coal train? That seems a little excessive.

6 units, actually. It does seem excessive, until you've been over the line between Portage and Moose Pass and experienced the 3%+ grade amidst several 180 degree reverse curves.

Dave, these are some of the best train pics I think Ive seen, both trains and scenery are spectacular. The big diesel note from so many units must be heard to be believed.
