I can't find my photo to verify but I'm pretty sure this motor was stored in Effingham for atleast a year. I was there in October or so and photographed B&LE and IC units sitting in a siding. I'm so happy to hear it's being saved and repainted GM&O!

It's wonderful that this notable unit (first application of the 16-645 engine) was saved, let's hope the dynamic brakes are restored, if only cosmetically, and that it is made operable again. Original demo colors were Santa Fe blue and yellow, minus any lettering other than road number, so a reapplication of GM&O red and white colors would be nice.

I was on that engine in 1997 when we struck a pickup truck near Waterloo, IA. bent the snowplow in and broke the bottoms off the steps. I just remember the cramped cab it has, the electrical cabinet is pushed like 1 foot into the cab.
