Posted by James Belmont on October 24, 2008  Easily on of the most enjoyable locations to watch the Southwest Chief trains arrive and depart in the 1980's. Amtrak employees took their jobs seriously and the service shined through. I recall a train of baggage carts moving along the brick Santa Fe platform loaded in the classic manner. Amtrak's arrival, departure, and the frequent passage of Santa Fe Transcon freights (especially roaring upgrade westbounds) made this station location one I'll never forget.
