IC 6071, built as EMD SD40X 434, was the first locomotive built with the 645-series engine, and so basically it was the first SD40, not SD40-2. It was upgraded to SD40-2 specifications by the Illinois Central, having been acquired in the IC-Gulf Mobile & Ohio merger.
