BNSF train C-SXMRBG3-53 emerges from the Fallbridge Subdivision’s Tunnel 11. The volcanic rock through which this tunnel was bored is so stable that the typical portals and lining were not needed. This loaded unit coal train, heading from Signal Peak MT to Robert Banks (Global) BC, is on the former Spokane Portland & Seattle mainline built along the northern bank of the Columbia River – a line with gentle grades but a lot of tunnels and curves as it follows this impressive river through spectacular scenery. BNSF ES44AC 5762, SD70MAC 8803 and SD70MAC 9899 are on the point of this westbound. (Lyle, Washington – October 25, 2019)
