As one of Southern Pacific's "Haulers" heads west out of the railroad's West Colton Yard, it stops on the main at Pomona so the crew on it can converse with the crew on SP 3802 east (an eastbound "Hauler"). SP GP9R 3802 is the former SP 3584, originally SP 5743, while SP SD7 1506 is ex-SP 1439, ex-SP 2739, née-SP 5332. One might assume they didn’t want this talk to be over the radio … griping about management, perhaps? (Pomona, California – April 1989)
