With 53 loads and a single empty in tow, southbound 214 is making pretty decent work of the tough grade through the small mining community of Cobalt, just passing the picturesque and well kept Ontario Northland depot. Today’s mish-mash of power includes 1740 (nicknamed the Ghost), a former KCS SD40-2 acquired in 2020, and 1741 (nicknamed the Stallion for its most recent NS heritage), a former MP/UP SD40-2, both extensively rebuilt at the ONR shops in North Bay.
