CSX Transportation 8467 may have "SD40-2" marked on the cab, but it was not built as such. This engine emerged from EMD's factory in McCook, Illinois, in February 1969 as an SD40, built for the Missouri Pacific as engine 743. The railroad later renumbered it to MP 3043, and it was eventually sold to locomotive dealer VMV Enterprises, for whom it became VMVX 3043. In August 1990 it was rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen into an "SD40M-2" and sold to CSX, which numbered it CSXT 8467, and dubbed it an "SD40-2." (Richmond, Virginia – January 20, 2015)
