Changing of the guard, on July 1 The Rio Tinto (Kennecott) switching contract was taken over by Railserve (RSSX), from Omaha track. The last of the former operator locomotives SSRX 279, 3670 3510 lessors and OT 3906 are found in Midvale, Utah. GP39 high cab 3906 now SSP 3906 with the Omaha Track painted out will now go to Spokane Spangler & Palouse Railway in Washington. Two other high cab have already gone to Washington. It's sad to see the last GP39 high cab leave, as they were such a staple for the Kennecott railway. It appear they were retrieved from Kennecott by the Savage. I presume the Utah Railway will pick them up, and haul them to Provo. Then the BNSF will pick them up, then take them east to Denver. Then eventually to Spokane at least the SSPRW unit. Not sure where the SSRX locomotives will end up. Don Strack is the source of the switching contract info.
