Another Meeting at Gilchrist Junction
Klamath Northern's sole locomotive, GE SL-125 #207 slowly backs onto it's train at Gilchrist Junction. In the background, the UP local based in K-Falls prepares to couple onto it's train as well.
The two trains are a study in opposites: the KNOR uses only one locomotive, a tiny unique GE SL-144 centercab, while the UP train boasts a 4400HP SD70M.
This was the last freight on the Klamath Northern Railway Company, it’s owner Interfor shut down the line after this train. Now, the shortline lays dormant, awaiting resurrection for future lumber traffic. Thanks to the friendly crew, I was lucky to catch this last freight.
