It's a warm and very humid morning in Central Illinois on this Memorial Day. After leaving the house early to drive south towards Mattoon, I came across the train just south of Mattoon and had to make a u-turn. With no work in Mattoon, the train had a straight shot to Decatur. My mind immediately went to the shot of the bridge at the Kaskaskia River State Fish and Wildlife Management Area. I make the jaunt back there just to find the gates and park closed. Yes, just another "unsafe" place for people to go to during this COVID-19 crisis! Those gates were no match for the drone though as it was quickly up in the air and towards the bridge.
Minutes later, the A431 rolled through with IC 2457 and a KCS unit on the head end. The lead unit, a "Blue Devil," looks to be the only one of its kind moving across the CN system right now. The others seem to be in some sort of storage.
