As is often the case, on an October afternoon there was a string of westbound BNSF Railway freight trains sitting on the railroad’s Needles Sub east of Barstow, California, waiting for their turns to enter the Barstow Yard (either to end their run, or to fuel up and continue west). One of those trains was the H-SIOBAR1-05, a High Priority Merchandise train that originated in Sioux City IA and is headed to Barstow. The H-SIOBAR had a more interesting than usual lash-up, with BNSF ES44C4 7067 and 6786, followed by CP AC4400CWM 8158 (which was added sometime after the train departed Amarillo TX). The rear DPU units were a pair of Dash 9-44CWs: BNSF 734 (still in Superfleet red and silver) and 996 (in the first BNSF green & orange scheme). (Minneola, California – October 12, 2019)
