An eastbound Shore Line East commuter train departs the station in Guilford, Connecticut. ConnDOT's passenger trains are operated by Amtrak, and consist of Mafersa-built cars acquired from Virginia Railway Express. A variety of locomotives are assigned to these trains, and on January 29, 2018, one of ConnDOT's GP40-2H diesels is shoving on the rear of train 1622 (New Haven CT to New London CT). CNDX 6696 was built by EMD as Chesapeake & Ohio GP38 3875, renumbered to CSXT 2075 when that merger was created. It was rebuilt into a passenger locomotive by AMF Technotransport in 1996, and painted in the classic New Haven "McGinnis" paint scheme - and is the last active of these painted this way! It is due to head off to be rebuilt - and repainted into a new scheme - in March 2018. The train is passing an old New Haven enginehouse, which serviced steam locomotives many years ago.
