UP 1996 sits in automatic idle at Dozier crossing. Amidst a flurry of flood reroutes over the Jefferson City Sub from Kansas City, Terminal Railroad Association decided to close the MacArthur Bridge in downtown St. Louis for maintenance. The ensuing backup on UP was so great that 1996 arrived at Dozier almost twelve hours after it was supposed to transit downtown St. Louis, and left almost twenty fours after that! While disappointing, the idle locomotive provided plenty of opportunities to examine its gorgeous, recently repainted heritage livery.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
