The first full weekend of January 2018 had much of the Northeast in a Winter deep freeze not seen in many years. With daytime highs in the single digits and wind chills 20-30 below zero, outside was not a place on the top of my list! However, living within hearing distance of the Central Maine & Quebec's Searsport Branch does have its perks. Lately, it's been anyone's guess when and what time of day these jobs would run due to recent work in Searsport Yard and a lack of crews. Sunday the 7th came around and a friendly heads-up from another local train chaser informed us of an early afternoon #211. Soon, the pursuit was on to find the train and we did just that near Stream Road in Winterport, Maine. A while later and well South in Stockton Springs, the sun held out ahead of some clouds as 2558 and 2003 found Steamboat Wharf Road in full sun. Even with the entire branch being at 10mph currently, the lead GP35 was able to blow up the roadside snow pile quite nicely.
