Another picture of this beautiful restored gem: Sixaxle (A1A-A1A) 1500HP ALCO RSC-2 diesellocomotive CP # 1501, built in 1948 as DE # 101 for the portuguese CP (Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses /Comboios de Portugal/), running on 1668 mm (5 ft 5 21⁄32 in) broad gauge, in the beautiful railway museum of Entroncamento. Twelve of this type were built, DE # 101 to DE # 112, in 1952 renumbered to CP # 1501 to 1512. Weight is 111 ton, max. velocity 105, from 1976 120 km/h. Uprated in 1976 to 2000 HP. Regular service of this series ended in 2000. The # 1501 was named "Almeida e Castro" to honor the engineeer, who faciliated the introduction of this first mainline diesellocomotives in Europ in 1948.
