If you haven’t seen the Iowa Traction RR. in person you might not believe it really exists. This Iowa shortline is the operating remnant of a genuine beside the road electric interurban right out of the 1920’s. It is not a museum operation. The railroad operates several vintage steeple cab electrics in Mason City, Iowa. They service several local industries, mostly agriculture related as well as a scrap yard and interchange with the Canadian Pacific and the Union Pacific. IATR #50, seen here on the spur to the AGP soybean facility, was built by Baldwin in 1920; 97 years old and still in revenue service.
