By 1986, hi-rail vehicles had established their roles in MOW work, and the days of speeders were numbered, especially on Class 1 railroads. Needless to say, it was quite a surprise to stumble into a motorcar freshly repainted for a railroad that had only been in existence for less than a year. I have to think that this was a one-of-a-kind. I also wonder how the MOW crew felt about running on the C&O main line in a low-visibility vehicle that was not traditional safety yellow or safety orange.
