Heading south on the number One Main, and approaching the Santa Ana, California, Amtrak/Metrolink station, is BNSF Railway's M-BARSDG1-27A, a merchandise train heading from Barstow to San Diego. This freight caused Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #763 (San Diego to Goleta, CA) to have to load passengers on the number Two Main, which caused a few passengers a bit of confusion (despite the many announcements made by the ticket agents). The Amtrak train met the freight not far beyond the signals. Power for the "Dago" (as the freight to San Diego is often called) is ES44DC 7753, ES44C4 6897, ES44DC 7719 and ES44DC 7700 (with ES44DC 7775 and ES44C4 8383 as the rear DPUs).
