An ex-CGR steam engine, out in the sun for once. CN 5550 is normally stored in building 5 at Exporail, which is not open during the winter months. I was happily surprised to see it out for the first time, near Hays Station. CN 5550 is a 4-6-2 built by Montreal Locomotive Works for the Canadian Government Railways in 1920. The CGR was absorbed into CN soon thereafter, where it was renumbered to 5550 and became part of Class K-2-b. Behind it is a CGR boxcar and a CN heavyweight car. In the distance at right is CP 4563 (MLW M630).
