On the chopping block. After serving both the Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads for many years, these searchlight signals are counting down their final few nights in service. Throughout the line, Union Pacific has been replacing these old searchlights with new trilights. These newer signals have already been placed next to the tracks, just waiting to be brought into service. But before that moment came, a northbound manifest raced out of Chico and passed through a classic pair searchlight signals just outside the small town of Nord, California. Soon, these iconic searchlights will be gone forever.
