Face to face with a GP15-1, the engineer of Union Pacific Railroad's Troy Grove Job, LPJ04, has just stopped his set of four locomotives at the end of new track laid in response to the fracking sand boom, at Troy Grove, Illinois. The power will now run around its empties and begin building a train of loads before placing empty cars at the two large plants here. This is the former Chicago & Northwestern Railroad's Troy Grove Subdivision, the 709 is former Missouri Pacific 1709 and was photographed on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.
