For a time, Montana Rail Link ran a passenger train on portions of its scenic routes called the “Montana Rockies Daylight” operated by Montana Rockies Rail Tours. Here the eastbound 9-car train crosses Bridge 208 at Donlan, Montana, on September 3, 1999. The lead locomotive is unique EMD GP19-1 No. 151 rebuilt by MRL from a former Northern Pacific GP9. This one-of-a-kind locomotive was involved in a switching accident and scrapped in 2008. The passenger train itself didn’t fair much better, discontinued after the 2004 season…
