Metro Ports (the former Metropolitan Stevedore) operates a transloading facility on Pier G in Long Beach, California. To handle the trainloads of coal, petroleum coke, soda ash, potash and other commodities, Metro Ports utilizes two locomotives. One of them is 9503, a former Santa Fe SF30C. Built by General Electric in April 1973 as Santa Fe U36C 8733, this engine was rebuilt by the Santa Fe in 1985, becoming SF30C 9503. Photo taken on private property with permission and full PPE.
