Mainline Steam's New Zealand Tour train is hauled by Ka 942 to Napier near Takapau. The train continued to Gisborne the next day, the only time a Ka visited Gisborne. It was also the last steam train before the Napier - Gisborne line was closed due storm damage.
Mainline Steam Heritage Trust operates steam specials throughout New Zealand from depots in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Each year an inter-island Steam Tour attracts fans from around the world. For more visit www.mainlinesteam.co.nz
