A view that very few people ever get to see is that from on the nose of the first SD40 ever built, let alone with a Leslie S5T on top. The horn is present here for an initial "fitting" as part of the restoration project for the locomotive at the Monticello Railway Museum. Also on the list are new traction motors (Canadian National removed the originals before donation), new paint (there's still some debate on if it will return in GM&O red or IC black...), correct number boards, and a few more touches to bring the unit back to life. For more information on the restoration, visit the team's Facebook page, "Friends of IC 6071/GM&O 950".
Generally speaking, shots where less than a full engine is shown. But I want to feature details, not half engines or full cabs, and definitely not full nose shots. Just shots where someone has zoomed in with purpose.
