Illinois Central 6071, the first EMD SD40 ever built, is on display as the "IC 6071 Exhibit" at the Monticello Railway Museum's yearly "Railroad Days" event on September 22, 2012. The unit started out as EMDX 434 in July 1964, eventually becoming Gulf, Mobile & Ohio 950, Illinois Central Gulf 6071, and then finally IC 6071 before the unit was retired in March 2009 by the Canadian National Railway. As part of the "exhibit," the signs show pictures of 6071's heyday from EMD demonstrator paint, to GM&O paint and even ICG paint. 6071 has an unknown future at the museum where it was donated to in March 2010.
