The day started out slow, very slow. We didnt find a train for over 2 hours and then decided to head to CP's River Sub. Little did we know that our luck was about to change when we found out that the SOO 6059 was leading the 283. Due to a broken rail between Lake City and Wabasha, which halted all rail traffic for a few hours while the MOW crew welded the rail. We headed south of Wabasha to find this guy in Kellogg but would have 2 westbounds and 2 eastbounds infront of him before he could go. As 2:30 pm came around, the crew of the 283 called to the River Dispatcher to let her know that they were dead at 1800. Finally at 3:30 pm, the 283 departed Midland Siding and made a mad dash up to Hastings for a mainline crew change. Ironically this was our last train of the day, so we hit the jackpot and saved the best for the last.
