I'm heading into Tacoma to work on the little trains of the PSMRE and I hear over the radio the crew of the EVEROO asking for the Tacoma yardmaster to train his camera towards the last 3 cars of garbage to verify they still have a couple of riders. Rider's verified and the yardmaster describes a new rider jumping on the train. Tacoma Police have been called and are to meet the train at the Amtrak Station.
Off to the station I go and arrive in time to see the train pull to stop, the newest rider detrain and watch the remaining two enjoy a beer (Rainier of course). Mitch Goldman alert: there's also a dog on board!
A few minutes later, with some guidance by this photographer, two of Tacoma's finest arrive and begin the process of relieving the train of it's unwanted guests.
I do have to say, freight train riding ain't what it used to be. These two, had cell phones, camera, guitar, a couple of knapsacks and of course a dog (with his own pack).
