Heber Valley Railroad's 'Provo Canyon Limited' descends a short stretch of 2.5% grade below the passing siding at Wallsburg. This trackage is part of a realignment made necessary when the US Government constructed Deer Creek Dam, visible in the background to the right of the train. The dam is a zoned earthfill structure 235 feet high with a crest length of 1,304 ft. The dam contains 2,810,000 cubic yards of material and forms a reservoir of 152,570 acre-ft. of capacity. Construction of the project began in May 1938 and was completed in 1941. Ridership on Provo Canyon Limited this day was good and the colors of autumn were becoming vivid. RS4TC #4028 rambles by a patch of brilliant rabbit brush in a pretty close match to the former Rio Grande's Aspen Gold paint.
