The 25 members of the South African Railways Class GO Garratt Locomotive spent most of their lives hauling chrome ore trains up the escarpment from Steelpoort to Lydenberg in the Eastern part of the country. No 2575 was preserved in working order and is currently in the George Railway Museum.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
