Since Union Pacific took over operations of the Cane Creek Sub, little of the former Rio Grande remains with the exception of small details. UP SD60M 2429, decked out in shiny Armour yellow paint passes a group of D&RGW icons from the past: a classic Rio Grande metal station sign, a home grown D&RGW milepost and crossing marker, section rail manufactured for the Grande at CF&I in Pueblo and lastly, ballast hauled via D&RGW rails from the Leadville, Colorado area. Not all of the Rio Grande has vanished from the scene, it can still be found in the details.
