See The Superliners Soon. On February 22, 2015, AMTK 168 (P42DC) leads a 5-car Amtrak 29 (Capitol Limited) through the snow. Just a short distance outside of Washington D.C. as it passes the former Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the train will be in Chicago, Illinois the next morning. On September 23, 2024, Amtrak announced that the "Floridian" will be a temporary replacement for a combination of the "Capitol Limited" and the "Silver Star" as a through Chicago, IL to Miami, FL trains and will debut on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The train will have traditional dining and all of the other premium Amtrak long-distance amenities. But one thing it will not have is Superliners as these cars will be assigned to other lines and the Silver Star's Viewliners and AmFleets will be used for the consist. This change will leave the Auto Train as the only consist on a train completely east of Chicago to use Superliners.
