No heritage schemes needed-- The Hartwell Railroad in northwestern Georgia continues to employ a variety of older locomotives in predecessor paint schemes. This particular unit is a fan favorite and still wears its original CNW paint. Clocking in at 67 years old, the 4556 was built for the Rock Island in 1957. The simple rugged design of these locomotives are attractive to smaller railroads-- Software issues, unable to link to an EOT, a PTC issue? None of it here. Turn the batteries on, walk back, open a door, and start it up. And that's exactly what 4556 did with no hesitation when cranked to move these two centerbeams out of the siding at Harbin Lumber in Royston, GA which are bound for the NS interchange in Toccoa, GA.
