First Of 600 - 60 Years Ago Today. Metropolitan Transportation Authority/MTA NYCT Subway R-32 3360 (Budd, 1964) made a rare non-revenue appearance on the road on Monday, June 24, 2024, seen here coming off of the Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn, New York and approaching the Marcy Avenue station. This pair was restored to its "as delivered" appearance for the New York Transit Museum "Farewell To The R-32s" excursions in 2022, having its doors repainted blue and having a decal of the markers lights and roll sign applied amongst other details. It was also affixed with a similar banner that read "Last Of" instead of "First Of", replicating the banner that was on the ceremonial inaugural run 60 years go today on September 9, 1964 on the New York Central Railroad from Mott Haven to Grand Central Terminal. These cars will be a part of the New York Transit Museum “Celebrating 60 Years Of Brightliners” event on Saturday, September 14, 2024. Note the recent addition of the One Domino Square buildings in the background, changing this classic scene forever.
